William Lauder’s Contributions To America’s Beauty Industry

William Lauder is one of the most inspirational leaders to bring in a successful revolution in the beauty and cosmetic industry in the USA today. He is an American businessman born in 1960. He is the grandson of Mrs Estée Lauder- The founder of The Estée Lauder Companies. This Company is one of the top manufacturers of skin care, makeup, hair care and perfume products in the USA. The Company also markets all its products across the nation and the world.

After graduating with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School in 1983 from the University of Pennsylvania, William Lauder dabbled with many brands included Clinique. Since 2003, he has been associated with his grandmother’s companies and served as the Chief Operating Officer. In 2004, he succeeded Fred H Langhammer as the Chief Executive Officer of The Estée Lauder Companies. He was actively overlooking the global operations of the company that covered manufacturing, research and development and human resource management.

Besides this, he also looked after the retail store operations and other salient activities of the international operations of the Company. He managed nine major brands of the Estée Lauder Companies. All of them were specialty brands that included Aveda, Bobbi Brown and Prescriptives. In the past, William was the Group President of the Estée Lauder Companies and President of Clinique worldwide. While donning this role, he was responsible for leading the global business of Clinique and Origins. The Retail segment of the Company was expanding at a very rapid pace. The freestanding stores for all the brands were doing exceptionally well thanks to his endeavors.

These brands included Origins, MAC and Aveda. This was not all William was doing. He was the archetypical “Jack of all Trades”. He managed all the online activities of the brands he managed. His sole motto was to keep the present set of customers engaged and attract more customers to the chain of products he was associated with. This was a major success. The Gloss.com joint venture with Clarins and Chanel also hit off well and the Company progressed largely.
